WHO WE ARE - OUR GOALS

The Greek Society of Location & Unit Department (GSLUD) was founded in 2024 and is the professional association representing in Greece the professions of Location Manager, Unit Manager and Location Coordinator, as well as all other professionals working within the Location & Unit Department in Film, Television and Audiovisual Productions.

Our Association currently numbers 63 founding and regular members, representing the majority of Greek professionals actively working across the full spectrum of specialties within the Location and Unit Departments.

The main objectives of the Union are:

  • To highlight, promote and disseminate the professions of the Location & Unit Department in film, television, advertising productions and all other audiovisual works.
An audiovisual work is defined as any work recorded on a (tangible or intangible) image or image-and-sound medium intended for audiovisual use, regardless of duration, content, means or methods used or to be developed in the future for its production, processing and transmission.

  • To secure recognition of the pivotal role of Location & Unit Department professionals in the production of film and other audiovisual works.

  • To define the job descriptions and responsibilities of professionals working in the Location & Unit Department in film and audiovisual productions.

  • To maintain continuous communication and collaboration with institutional and non-institutional bodies (cultural, financial, administrative, artistic institutions, production companies, etc.) as well as individuals, in order to establish and strengthen the professional roles of Location & Unit Department workers in audiovisual productions carried out within the Greek territory.

  • To establish procedures and quality standards (including the drafting of a Code of Practice) based on existing international standards or future applicable standards across the entire field of film, television and audiovisual production in Greece, and to promote awareness and adoption of these standards by all relevant stakeholders (Unions, Production Companies, Film Offices, etc.).

  • To ensure continuous information, training and professional development of its members, particularly regarding new methods, techniques, technologies, contracts, legislation in audiovisual production, crew organization, communication with public and private bodies, location scouting procedures, technological tools, applicable legal frameworks, on-set safety, set construction and location adaptation, as well as environmental protection.

  • To provide education and professional training to non-members prior to participation in productions and to facilitate the integration of new members through all appropriate means.
